Third party, fire and theft covers Loss or damage to the car and its accessories caused by fire, theft or attempted theft. Third party only covers damage caused to other vehicles.
An excess is the amount that you have to pay if you make a claim. There are two types of excess:
- Compulsory excess This is a fixed amount which you'll have to pay if you make a claim. We’ll pay out the remaining amount to cover your damage or theft.
- Voluntary excess This is an amount that you agree to pay on top of your compulsory excess. You may pay a lower premium if you agree to pay a voluntary excess.

You can insure two or more cars at the same time but you would need to buy separate policies for each car as we do not offer multi-car insurance. If you have a no claims discount, you can only use it on one vehicle at a time. If it’s already in use on one vehicle, you will need to start at 0 on the other vehicle.
If you are the main policyholder named on the insurance certificate, you might be able to drive someone else’s car using this policy. You’ll need to check the wording on your certificate of insurance to see if it is shown there. If it is, you will be covered for third party only and you must have the permission from the owner of the other vehicle and it must have a valid insurance policy. If it is not mentioned, this means that you are not insured to drive someone else’s car using your policy.
