Is this plan right for me?

If you’re aged 18-59, and looking for straightforward life insurance that leaves your loved ones a cash sum if you die during the policy term, Family Life Insurance could be right for you. Just choose how much cover you'd like or the monthly premium you'd like to pay. Then choose how long you'd like your cover to last, from 5 to 40 years (as long as your plan ends before your 80th birthday).

Will I need a medical?

No. When you apply for Family Life Insurance, there’s no medical and we don’t need to contact your doctor. We’ll just ask you to answer a few health and lifestyle questions and give you an instant decision.

What is Critical Illness Cover?

Critical Illness Cover protects you and your loved ones financially if you're diagnosed with a specified cancer or suffer a heart attack or stroke – as specified in the policy's Key Features and Terms and Conditions.

We'll pay out 25% of your life cover on diagnosis of a critical illness and the remaining 75% if you die during the term of your policy.

Can I take out Family Life Insurance with my partner?

Of course. Just remember, a joint policy only pays out when one of you dies and if critical illness cover is included, when one of you is diagnosed with a covered condition.

When does my life cover start?

Your cover kicks in as soon as you’re accepted for Family Life Insurance. So you could be enjoying financial protection in minutes.

What happens if I change my mind?

You have 30 days from the day you receive your policy documents to cancel your Family Life Insurance and we will refund any premiums you have paid. After that, you can cancel at any time in writing. Remember, if you decide to cancel after 30 days, or if you stop paying premiums for any reason, your policy will be cancelled and your insurance cover will end.

What happens when my policy term ends?

Think about how long you want your cover to run, because you’re paying for insurance to protect you for a specified period of time, known as ‘the term’. When this term ends, your policy ends, and you stop paying monthly premiums. To be covered beyond that term, you’ll need to arrange a new policy.

Is my cash sum subject to inheritance tax?

The cash sum paid on death normally forms part of your estate, so it may be subject to inheritance tax unless you write the policy subject to an appropriate trust.

If you have taken Critical Illness Cover and the cash sum is paid on diagnosis of a covered condition, it won't be subject to inheritance tax at the time of the claim but may be subject to inheritance tax on your death.

The funeral services are arranged by a funeral director selected by Golden Charter Ltd. If you choose to pay for your funeral in one go, with a single payment, you will have a contract with Golden Charter. The funeral services will be arranged by a funeral director selected by Golden Charter Ltd.
