Simon Stanney joins as General Insurance Director
SunLife has today announced another new senior hire. Simon Stanney has joined the business as General Insurance Director and will head up SunLife’s emerging general insurance distribution business.
Mr Stanney who brings with him 23 years of industry experience having held senior insurance positions at HSBC, RAC, Ageas and VC backed Castle Cover – is first spearheading SunLife’s upcoming launch of pet insurance and home insurance (launching early September), the first time SunLife has entered the general insurance market.
Since its rebrand in 2014, SunLife has successfully launched a range of new propositions aimed at helping families get straightforward, affordable savings and protection products, including an ISA, life insurance and will-writing service.
Stanney says the company’s pet and home products will continue that strategy of finding ways to make insurance products more accessible to everyday customers, and give them a more straightforward, ‘retail’ experience.
“I’m delighted to be joining such a progressive and customer focused business,” he says, “and I am confident that our new general insurance products will resonate strongly with both existing and new to brand customers”.
Commenting on the appointment, SunLife’s managing director Dean Lamble says, "SunLife's transformation into a true retail financial services brand is well underway.
“The appointment of Simon, coming on the back of the appointment of other senior industry figures such as Emma Walker from MoneySupermarket and Mark Jones* from LV= is testament to our commitment to broaden our reach and appeal across customer segments and products lines.”
*In April 2015, Emma Walker joined SunLife as Head of Digital and Customer Experience and Mark Jones joined as Protection Director. If you would like copies of their appointment releases, please contact:
