Here is all the information you need to make a claim.

How to make a claim for a funeral plan with Dignity, including a Guaranteed Funeral Plan

To make a claim, contact Dignity directly – there is no need to contact SunLife as well. You can call 0800 456 1047* (lines open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

To process the claim, Dignity will need:

  • The full name and address of the policyholder
  • The SunLife policy number
  • The Dignity reference number
  • The original death certificate

How to make a claim for funeral plan or Funeral Assist from Co‑op Funeralcare

To make a claim, contact Co‑op Funeralcare directly – there is no need to contact SunLife as well. You can either call 0345 602 0075* (open Monday–Friday 8am–9pm; Saturday–Sunday 9am–5pm excluding public holidays) or call a local Co‑op Funeralcare funeral home to make a claim.

To process the claim, Co‑op Funeralcare will need:

  • The full name and address of the policyholder
  • The SunLife policy number
  • Co‑op Funeralcare funeral planning number
  • The original death certificate

*Calls may be monitored or recorded for security and training purposes. Call costs may vary. Calling an 03 number will cost no more than a call to an 01 or 02 number, irrespective of whether you call from a landline or mobile. If you have 'inclusive minutes' with your package these calls are included, but you may wish to check with your call provider.

How to make a claim for a funeral plan with Golden Charter

To make a claim, contact Golden Charter directly – there is no need to contact SunLife as well. You can call 0800 171 2077* (lines open Monday–Friday 9am–5pm)

To process the claim, Golden Charter will need:

  • The full name and address of the policyholder
  • The SunLife policy number
  • The Golden Charter reference number
  • The original death certificate

Claiming a cash sum instead of the funeral services

You can decide to receive a cash sum instead of the funeral services. Please be aware that if you claim a cash sum instead of the funeral services, you may get less back than was paid in by the policyholder. The cash sum may also be subject to Inheritance Tax.

To claim a cash sum you will need to contact SunLife rather than the funeral provider to make a claim. Simply call our friendly team on 0800 008 6060 or write to us at:

To process the claim, we will need:

  • The policy schedule to be returned
  • The name of the person making the claim and evidence of their entitlement to the policy proceeds
  • The name and date of birth of the policyholder
  • The original death certificate
  • A copy of the policyholder's will, if there is one
