How to make a claim for a Protected Funeral Payout Plan with Dignity

To make a claim for funeral services, contact Dignity directly – there is no need to contact SunLife as well. You can call 0800 484 0236* (lines open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). To process the claim, Dignity will need:

  • The full name and address of the policyholder
  • The SunLife policy number
  • The original death certificate

Claiming a cash sum, instead of the funeral services

You can decide to receive a cash sum, instead of the funeral services. Please be aware that if you claim a cash sum instead of the funeral services that you may get less back than was paid in by the policyholder. The cash sum may also be subject to Inheritance Tax.

To claim a cash sum you will need to contact SunLife rather than the funeral provider to make a claim. Simply call our friendly UK based team on 0800 008 6060* or write to us at:

To process the claim, we will need:

  • The Policy Schedule to be returned
  • The name of the person making the claim and evidence of their entitlement to the Policy proceeds
  • The name and date of birth of the Policyholder
  • The original death certificate
  • A copy of the Policyholder's will if there is one
