Choose a career at SunLife

SunLife is a small business with around 120 people in our Bristol office. But don’t let that mislead you when it comes to ambition!

Our ambition for ourselves and our customer is stretching, and there’s no better reflection of that than the people who work here. We’re a passionate bunch who like to get involved and deliver great customer service.

Above all else, we believe in the SunLife brand and what that means for our customers. We also go out of our way to make SunLife a fun and happy place to work, with a great location in central Bristol, and a modern and fresh working environment (yes, we actually have a tree in the middle of our kitchen!).

The reason I chose Sunlife was obviously it's got a great reputation as a business. Just from the moment that I walked into the offices you could tell it was a fun, friendly place to work – it had a real sort of character about it.

I've worked at Sunlife for 25 years now. It's a dynamic company. We're always trying to move forwards. It’s a fun place to work. If you’re having a tough day or what have you, there's always some great characters that you can go and have a conversation with and help you lift the mood.

There's usually always somebody laughing around the office. There's a real range of people - a mixture of ages. It’s very relaxed and informal. We’ve got a dress down policy, so within reason you can wear what you like. It’s non-hierarchical, it feels like it's an open door policy, so you can go in and talk to people whenever you want if you've got an idea. Ideas are always welcome. We also get a lot of work done as well, so people are really professional at the same time.

SunLife is a great environment. What I particularly like is working for a strong brand that's number one in it’s sector, and is a challenger brand in it’s other chosen markets.

One of the great things of working at SunLife is we can collaborate with many different teams across the business. If there's a project you want to get involved in you can. There's not a block on you like there would be in some corporate environments.

We can ask to go on training courses. There's often a lot of secondments that go on. I get to work on exciting projects like TV ads or printed material or digital comms, so for me it’s nice and broad.

The team I'm in has a real 'can-do' attitude and we a real sense of 'togetherness' as well. We have a big wall that sets out all of our priorities and we work through that. So I feel there's a sense of achievement and I can look back and I can quantify all of the things I've done here in the last few months.

It’s not just all about work, there are lots of fun elements to SunLife as well. That can be from healthy breakfasts to Easter eggs and Advent calendars.

At Christmas we got some vouchers to sort of spend in John Lewis.

We had a chocolate fountain the other week.

Daffodils on St David's Day.

Perk box has been added to our list of our benefits recently.

Strawberries and cream. Lots of lovely surprises that come along the way.

The new office is fantastic. A lot of thought has gone into making it a great place to work. All the employees were consulted about new office. There's lots of different areas that you can go and collaborate.

It’s so modern, it’s bright, it’s light, and I'm proud to actually come to work.

I feel privileged to work in this office. In the last nineteen years I've worked in 7 locations across Bristol, and this is the best one that I've worked in. The environment, the location, the meeting rooms. I'm really looking forward to the summer as well and we can use the fantastic balcony.

I think for me, what’s special about SunLife, is that everybody's passionate about SunLife. We’re all aiming for the end goal, and everybody works together to try and achieve that.

I come into work everyday because there's so much opportunity for me to progress. I really do feel that my contribution is valued. It’s an exciting place to be.
